About
The Department of Turkish Language and Literature was established in 1975. The department has two primary objectives: First, to train specialists who have received fundamental education in the field and prepare them for postgraduate studies; and second, to equip students with the capability to conduct comparative research on other Turkic Dialects and Literatures across the Turkic World.
The department offers a four-year undergraduate program. Master’s and doctoral programs are conducted in coordination with the Institute of Social Sciences at Fırat University, with contributions from the department’s academic staff.
The department comprises 9 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor, and 7 Research Assistants.
Graduates of the department can work as teachers in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education or in private institutions; they can also serve as specialists at the Ministry of Culture, the Turkish Language Association, and archives, as well as take up roles in various departments of TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation).
